IST-Africa 2021 Call for Papers Deadline extended to 18 December

Hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation and Supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC), IST-Africa 2021 (May) is the sixteenth in an annual series of Ministerial Level Technology Research and Innovation Conferences.

Due to the unprecedented circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic and based on the success of IST-Africa 2020, to protect the health and well being of IST-Africa Community Members, IST-Africa 2021 will take place as a virtual event from 10 – 14 May.

To date, IST-Africa 2021 has also confirmed Support by the IEEE Africa Council and IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology, and Technical Co-Sponsorship by IEEE South Africa Section, IEEE Tunisia Section, IEEE Uganda Section, IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society, IEEE Education Society and IEEE UK and Ireland SSIT Chapter.

The IST-Africa Conference Series provides a world-class strategic platform rotating around Africa to strengthen technology-enabled Innovation, Science and Technology and Entrepreneurship related policy dialogues within Africa and between Africa, Europe and the rest of the world, Global Development, Research and Innovation Cooperation and Community Building. It also provides an opportunity to identify potential partners for future research cooperation under Horizon Europe and other international funding programs.

IST-Africa is a unique community that brings together cross-disciplinary stakeholders from public, private, education and research, societal, funding and international donor sectors with end user communities focused on ICT and STI Research and Innovation and Technology-enabled Entrepreneurship.

IST-Africa 2021 Call for Papers invites full papers (8 pages in length) using the paper guidelines and IST-Africa template provided at to be submitted online for blind peer review by an extended deadline of 18 December.

If you require a short extension to finalise your full paper for submission, please contact  requesting this.

Each presenter will present ONE paper in the Programme. Please only submit papers for review where there are authors/co-authors who will complete registration. Please do not submit multiple papers for which there is only one author who can register.

Workshop proposals can also be submitted online for consideration. A workshop session normally lasts for 90 mins with 4 – 5 presenters per session.
