AfricaConnect project to be showcased to 23 heads of state at the Paris Peace Forum

AfricaConnect, the Pan-African Internet connectivity project for research and education networking is set to be premiered to over ten thousand virtual participants after being selected as one of the projects to be showcased at the Paris Peace Forum.

The Paris Peace Forum is held every year on 11-13 November in Paris with the aim to place global governance at the top of the international agenda.

This year over 23 heads of state, 16 ministries, 8 Nobel Peace Prize winners and organisations and representatives from 20 international organisations will form part of the audience.

West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN), Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Boubakar Barry will talk about the AfricaConnect project to the participants on Thursday, 12 November 2020 from 1 PM CET/2 PM CAT on behalf of the three clusters involved in the implementation of the project.

Currently in its third phase, The AfricaConnect project commenced in year 2011 with co-funding from the European Commission. To date the project has helped the three African Research and Education Networks of WACREN, ASREN and UbuntuNet Alliance expand and upgrade their internet networks, connect new countries and deploy and building services and infrastructure for research and education networking.
