UbuntuNet Alliance in Attendance as ASREN Hosts Successful e-AGE22 Conference

The e-AGE22, which is part of the annual conference for the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), was held in Cairo, Egypt from 13-14 December 2022. The conference was hosted by the Egyptian Academy for Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and was themed “Science Cooperation – Taking NRENs Further.”

The conference brought together researchers and policy makers from all walks of life who met face-to-face after a hiatus of two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. The e-AGE22 featured high level participation including leaders from the Arab countries and representation from national, regional and global organizations who explored science cooperation and inaugurating a science dialogue through robust technological infrastructures and open environment. Discussions also centered around the contribution of the NRENs to achieving the UN-SDGs and regional and global priorities collaboratively through connectivity and dedicated services to R&E communities and beyond.

As a partner Regional Research and Education Network (RREN), UbuntuNet Alliance for Research and Education Networking (UA) was glad to participate in the e-AGE22. The Alliance was represented by the Chief Executive Officer and the Project Manager. In addition, a number of NRENs from the Community also participated including, Somali Research and Education Network (SomaliREN), Sudan Research and Education Network (SudREN) and Mozambique Research and Education Network (MoRENet).

We thank ASREN for organizing the e-AGE22 which was a resounding success! We look forward to hosting you at the upcoming UbuntuNet-Connect 2023 conference.
