UbuntuNet Alliance CEO visits KENET, ZAMREN and RENU

As he continues to settle in his new role, UbuntuNet Alliance CEO, Dr. Matthews Mtumbuka recently paid courtesy call visits to three Member NRENs of KENET in Kenya, ZAMREN in Zambia and RENU in Uganda where he also visited the UbuntuNet Alliance Network Operating Center (NOC) at the UbuntuNet Alliance office in Kampala.

Dr. Mtumbuka visited KENET offices in Nairobi on 13th September where he met CEO Prof, Meoli Kashorda with whom he held strategic talks on research and education networking in the region.

From Nairobi the CEO made a trip to Lusaka, Zambia where he branched off at the Zambia Research and Education Network, ZAMREN, offices and had an interface with CEO, Bonny Khunga and Chief Technical Manager, Stein Mkandawire.

The Alliance CEO who was accompanied by Technical Manager, Joe Kimaili also met UbuntuNet Alliance Chairperson Prof. Stephen Simukanga who is the Director General of Zambia’s Higher Education Authority.

The UbuntuNet Alliance team could not leave without visiting former Deputy Chairperson and current member of the Executive Committee of the UbuntuNet Alliance Board of Trustees, Prof. Hellicy Ng’ambi, the Vice Chancellor of Mulungushi University of Zambia and Board Chairperson of ZAMREN.

After Nairobi and Lusaka, Dr. Mtumbuka headed to Uganda and visited the Research and Education Network of Uganda, RENU, offices in Kampala. Before visiting RENU, he took time to appreciate the Network Operating Center, NOC, of the Alliance at the UbuntuNet Alliance Office in Kampala where the UbuntuNet Alliance technical team is based. The CEO also met up with UbuntuNet Alliance Deputy Chairperson Dr. Juliane Sansa-Otim.
