Instructional Design in E-Learning webinar excites participants

There has been overwhelming response and feedback from participants that attended the Instructional Design in E-Learning webinar aimed at drilling university and college lecturers and instructors on how to design effective online lessons.

The webinar, organized by UbuntuNet Alliance in partnership with Makerere University, was held Wednesday, 27 May 2020 and facilitated by e-learning specialist Dr. Michael Walimbwa of Makerere University in Uganda.

The event was the latest in a series of webinars UbuntuNet Alliance is organizing with different stakeholders and partners to assist universities seamlessly migrate to online teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic that has led to an indefinite closure of universities across Africa.

During the Webinar, Dr Walimbwa spoke on systematic approach to designing e-learning materials, defining  e-learning lessons outcomes, deciding the presentation of e-learning lessons, Approaches to e-learning presentations, developing and structuring e-learning content, creating e-learning storyboards and assessment in e-learning among other areas.

Over 110 participants attended the webinar and called on UbuntuNet Alliance to organize more webinars of similar nature to help institutions cope up with the effects of COVID-19 on teaching and learning.

“I am happy being here to gain more knowledge on e-learning. Thanks and kudos to the organisers,” said Oladejo Morufu from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Nigeria.

Dr Tabitha Omol of The Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Kenya said:  “I liked that Dr. Walimbwa touched on assessment in e-learning especially examinations. The issue of examination security is a real and continuous to worry lecturers in my University.”

“Many thanks to the presenter and UbuntuNet Alliance for organizing such a great learning experience. It was educative and I learnt a lot,” said Fransic Eolu from Somesa solutions ltd in Uganda.
