PRESS RELEASE
UbuntuNet Alliance has just approved its three year communication strategy. At the recent 9th Annual General Meeting of Members held in Lilongwe, Malawi, the highest organ of the Alliance gave the mega three year plan a node. The strategy is expected to focus on promoting uptake of the UbuntuNet brand to new user communities that are ready to integrate ICTs in their research and development initiatives.
As most of our readers know, UbuntuNet Alliance has traditionally targeted working with and establishing National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). We realise that this is not enough. At the end of the day we have more communities that share our vision of promoting Africa’s development through e-health, e-agriculture and e-education and we are categorically saying here is the platform for enhanced collaboration and ICT4D applications on the UbuntuNet high speed network and in the people community of like-minded researchers through the NRENS across the region.
The new strategy adopts a web-friendly approach to communications under which the Alliance will launch a new and improved website while NUANCE, the online newsletter of UbuntuNet Alliance, is now expected to be scaled to print versions.
