Technical Announcement: RPKI Route Origin Validation on the UbuntuNet Alliance Backbone.

UbuntuNet Alliance wishes to inform all NRENs connected to the UbuntuNet Network that it has now activated the Route Origin Validation feature within the regional backbone.

The feature helps in securing Internet’s routing infrastructure by among other things, allowing IP prefixes from authorized Autonomous Systems (AS) only. IP prefixes that are generated by unauthorized AS are dropped. The ROA can also be used to determine the maximum length of the prefix that the AS is authorised to advertise. This helps to prevent route hijacking and other related attacks.
