RENU Provides Direct Engineering Assistance to EQUSaT

Through their annual capacity building programme, the Research Education Network of Uganda (RENU), has successfully provided Direct Engineering Assistance (DEA) to the Equatorial University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) located in Masaka City.

RENU, a member of UbuntuNet Alliance, continues to make an impact within its community through its capacity building programmes for members. The most recent beneficiary was EQUSaT which qualified for RENU’s first DEA of the year after participating in the RENU DEA boot camp. DEA aims to equip the network and systems engineers of RENU member institutions with the skills to set up, manage and maintain clean, and efficient networks.

EQUSaT is a private not-for-profit university and joined RENU in September 2021. It offers a wide range of accredited academic programmes, with a focus on Science and Technology.

Between March 7-11, 2022, a technical team of engineers from RENU camped at EQUSaT premises to conduct the DEA that helped strengthen the university’s network  and equip the university’s technical team with skills to maintain and improve the network. During the week, RENU also handed over network equipment, that included CISCO switches, UniFi Access Points and a Juniper EX2200 switch, to the University’s Management.
