After successfully hosting a couple of capacity-building events amid the COVID-19 spells in 2020, the Research and Education Network of Uganda (RENU) is this year planning to pick up from where the NREN left off last year and hold more events this year.
Before the Covid-19 influenced country-wide lockdown in Uganda in March last year, RENU held Direct Engineering Assistance (DEA) boot camps at its offices in Kampala and the Mbale Clinical Research Centre alongside the online and non-residential workshops which the NREN conducted earlier.
This year, RENU has lined up several important events and the NREN already held its first online webinar on 9th February 2021 themed “Using perfSONAR to improve cross-domain Network Performance.”
Building on that, RENU intends to hold three online workshops this year with the “Introduction to Network Operations workshop already held from 9th – 26th March. The NREN will hold two more workshops on Advanced Services and NOC Operations in May and the second phase of this workshop from 30 August to 3 September.
Apart from the workshops, RENU will hold three DEAs this year, the first one slated for next month from 19 -23 April at the African Rural University [ARU] while the second will be held at Ndejje University-Main Campus from 26th – 30th July. The last DEA of the year will be held in October from 25-29 at the Kabale University.
