UbuntuNet Alliance is pleased to announce the 4th annual Open Science Training, to be held on October 29, 2025, in Harare, Zimbabwe, on the eve of the UbuntuNet‑Connect 2025 Conference. Now in its fourth year, this one‑day workshop brings together university librarians from Eastern and Southern Africa for hands‑on sessions in Open Access, FAIR data, and the CARE principles. Funded under the AfricaConnect4 project co‑funded by the European Union and the Africa Open Science Platform, the training will equip participants with the skills to make institutional repositories truly Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
Through the generous support of the EU, we will fully fund 20 librarians, covering round‑trip economy airfare, full‑board accommodation, local transport, and conference registration for UbuntuNet‑Connect 2025 (October 30–31). This comprehensive package is designed to remove barriers and maximize participation, ensuring that every cohort member can continue the impact of Open Science at their home institutions.
We invite interested librarians to submit a short proposal (max 500 words) outlining your role, your institution’s needs, and why you should be selected. Proposals must be uploaded by Friday, July 18, 2025, via our online portal at https://event.ubuntunet.net/event/146/. Notifications will go out by Thursday, July 31, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your Open Science expertise, expand your professional network, and help drive global research collaboration across Africa.
For questions, contact Eliakim Okundi at eliakim.okundi@ubuntunet.net. We look forward to receiving your proposal and to another year of transformative learning and collaboration.
