UbuntuNet-Connect 2024 Call for Abstracts and Panel Session Proposals Closes

The call for abstracts for the UbuntuNet-Connect 2024 conference has officially closed, marking the end of an extensive submission period that ran from March 11, 2024, to June 30, 2024. This year’s conference is centered around the theme “Maximizing Technological Advancements in Research and Education.” Over the two-day event, participants will delve into a wide array of subthemes, including cybersecurity, network connectivity, artificial intelligence in education, digital tools and open science, cloud computing solutions, and more.

The call for abstracts attracted an outstanding 166 submissions from our vibrant community of practitioners in research and education. This robust response underscores the growing contributions and heightened interest in UbuntuNet-Connect as a community conference that provides a platform for the community to showcase their work.

UbuntuNet Alliance extends heartfelt gratitude to all who submitted proposals and wishes all participants the best of luck. We are also thrilled to announce that, under the co-funding of the European Union through the AfricaConnect3 project, successful presenters will receive funding to cover their return tickets, accommodation, and meals, subject to terms and conditions. Notifications of accepted proposals will be sent out by July 29, 2024.

In the meantime, early bird registration for the conference remains open. We encourage prospective attendees to take advantage of the available discounted rates. Our online registration system ensures a seamless process, offering both bank transfer and online payment options. Early bird registration closes on August 31, 2024, with the following rates:

  • Institutions within Africa: $100 USD
  • Institutions outside Africa: $150 USD
