UbuntuNet Alliance is pleased to announce that Research Data and Communication Technologies (RDCT) has joined the UbuntuNet Partnership Programme as a Silver Partner for the upcoming UbuntuNet-Connect 2025 conference. This partnership marks a step forward in fostering innovation and strengthening collaboration between technology providers and the research and education community across Eastern and Southern Africa.
The UbuntuNet Partnership Programme is a year-long, mutually beneficial initiative designed to connect the region’s vibrant research and education network with relevant service providers. As the Regional Research and Education Network (RREN) for Eastern and Southern Africa, UbuntuNet Alliance represents 16 member NRENs, 14 of which are connected to our high-speed internet backbone, serving over 2,000 institutions and more than 4 million students and staff. Through our extensive communication channels: dedicated mailing lists, a monthly newsletter reaching 1,600+ subscribers, a 4,000-strong social media following, and year-round capacity-building events, the programme offers a valuable connection point between decision makers, practitioners and service providers.
About RDCT
RDCT is dedicated to supporting researchers, institutions, and organizations in managing, curating, and sharing data securely and efficiently. Their expertise in research data management (RDM) solutions aligns seamlessly with the needs of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), whose members increasingly rely on robust, scalable, and interoperable platforms to store, share, and reuse research outputs.
By bringing their solutions to the UbuntuNet Alliance community, RDCT can help work alongside NRENs to aid institutions in Eastern and Southern Africa in advancing open science, complying with international data standards, and enhancing collaboration across borders, critical steps in strengthening global research impact.
Looking Ahead to UbuntuNet-Connect 2025
Set for 30 – 31 October 2025, UbuntuNet-Connect 2025 will bring together over 200 leaders, innovators, and practitioners in research and education networking at Rainbow Towers Conference Centre. As a Silver Partner, RDCT will be present to showcase their services, engage with delegates, and explore synergies with NRENs, universities, and research institutions. Attendees can look forward to learning more about their cutting-edge data management solutions and how they can help institutions thrive in an increasingly data-driven research environment.
