Five candidates from the UbuntuNet Alliance NREN Members have been selected to represent the region during the upcoming online Emerging NREN Programme that will be held as part of GEANT’s annual networking conference, TNC21 to be held online from 21st – 25th June 2021.
GEANT has been organizing the Emerging NREN Programme since 2017 to encourage the collaboration and sharing of knowledge among personnel from emerging NRENs from across the world.
Candidates from various Regional Research and Education networks are pooled together in the programme and oriented on NREN best practices. The candidates are also encouraged to present lightning talks on their preferred networking topic to share with the rest of the TNC audience.
UbuntuNet Alliance has been a keen participant in this programme and has sent representatives from its various NRENs to be part of the programme during previous TNC conferences.
This year the Alliance opened a transparent process with its NREN Members and selected four candidates; Audace Manirabona from BERNET (Burundi); Augustine Kanyumbu from Eb@le (DRC); Lensa Abera of EthERNet (Ethiopia); Mohamed Ali Ahmed of SomaliREN (Somalia) and Stephen Mgaya from TERNET (Tanzania) will represent the UbuntuNet Alliance region during this years’ TNC that will be fully online.
